Vision of Portland

A Vision of Portland

Representatives from many Portland organizations are working together to create a "vision of Portland"--a statement that explains how we see our community.  The first draft is done, but our work has just begun.  Please click on the link below to view the draft statement and add your comments and suggestions.

A VISION OF PORTLAND

Welcome!

Welcome to Portland, Michigan, one of a handful of cities choosen to participate in Michigan's Cool Cities Initiative's Pilot Project!

Portland, a city of just 3,700 residents, has a great deal to offer, and it just gets better and better every day.  In May, Portland's "Friends of the Red Mill" held its first "Porch & Garden Extravaganza."  The Portland Community Arts Council held another successful "Thursdays on the Grand" summer concert series and held its second annual "Music Fest and Chalk Walk" in June.  In August was the Portland Area Chamber of Commerce's Riverfest.

Just around the corner are the annual HolidayFest on the Grand in November and the WinterFest in January, including the Portland Winter Run, the Winter Ball, the Portland Plunge, and much more!

See our Events Calendar for more details about these and many other Portland area events!  And browse our site for more information about opportunities to live, work, and play in Portland, The City of Two Rivers!

One Step At A Time

One of the most popular suggestions for "Cool Portland" has been to get lighting for the tennis courts at the High School.  While we've made some initial progress, we have a long way to go.  We need a volunteer or two to contact the list of grant resources we've identified and simply request application forms.  Can you help us out for an hour here and there?  Contact us at coolportland@cablespeed.com and help make this Cool idea a reality.
